Should we Start Dressing to go Out Again?
Can we please class it up, ladies?

We've been watching I Love Lucy reruns instead of enduring the constant search for something to watch that is entertaining, simple, non-political, and doesn't feel like it was written by an eleven year old boy (no offense intended). One thing that I began to notice was how Lucy and Ethel dressed, especially in the early episodes. Even when they are just at home, they wore dresses, simple, house dresses sometimes, but they dressed. They fixed their hair. They put on earrings and lipstick.
Today, we went to vote. I noticed one of the volunteer ladies, sitting at a chair inside the voting room, ready to help. She was wearing dress pants, heels, had her hair fixed, makeup on. She looked very nice. She was the only lady in the entire, full room, that looked nice. Everyone else looked incredibly frumpy! Blue jeans, baggy t-shirts, tennis shoes or flat sandals. Others wore shorts. Their hair fell limp, unkempt. As I observed, it was very clear that humans are darned unattractive as a species. No one seems to have any self respect anymore, and will go out in public looking no different than as if they were going out to work the farm!
I want that to change. Yes, my closet is full of blue jeans, tons of them, and comfortable khaki or army green pants that have never seen an iron, and never will. Even so, I'm thinking about changing, slowly, replacing at least some of my frump with a few more classy items. A woman may not be beautiful. She may not be skinny. But, by gosh, at least she ought to wear lipstick, earrings, do something with her hair, and put on a dress, or at least nice slacks, maybe even wear a decent shoe when she goes out in public. Is anyone else with me on this? Let's show a little class, a little pride, and a little respect for all the other folks that have to look at us!
